The problem

The builder left a steep bank of rock, stumps and rubble right below the house. There was nothing holding the grade, no plan for water coming off the roof, and no usable yard.

What we did

  • Pulled stumps and hauled off the construction rubble
  • Cut the slope back and set boulders course by course to build the retaining wall
  • Ran a rock-lined drainage channel to move roof and hillside water past the wall
  • Set stepping stones, brought in topsoil and laid sod across the finished grade

How it turned out

The bank is held, the water has somewhere to go, and the homeowners have a green yard right up to the wall instead of a pile of rock.
